A New Way Of Seeing.

Adventures in Egypt with my wife and son - 2017

In 2014, everything changed.

A sudden accident left me a quadriplegic — unable to use my legs, with limited movement in my hands. I was 41, a husband, a father, and in an instant, the life I’d built looked completely different. It took two years just to rebuild a basic routine.

Before the accident, my world was really active, I'd travelled and scuba dived around the world, owned and operated a cottage resort on a Canadian island, and my wife and I had brought up our son living in both Canada and New Zealand. I’ve always been drawn to the water and to open spaces.

Photography had been a quiet passion for years, but after my injury, holding a traditional camera was nearly impossible. I tried everything — nothing worked well — until I discovered drones. They gave me back a sense of freedom. Suddenly I could move again. I could explore. I could frame the world in new ways, from new angles. Even in winter, I could fly from indoors and feel less confined. So I taught myself how to edit my images and shared my work online. People started responding — and then they started buying prints. That’s how this website began.

In late 2022, I returned to New Zealand for the first time in a decade along with my drone, of course. I've been back to many familiar places and looked at them from above. It's reminded me that even when life shifts, there's always beauty to be found — often from a new angle.

This blog is where I want to share that journey, images, stories, and what I’m learning as I go. Thanks for being here 😊
